Encouragement for the prayerful

Right now, I feel the most peaceful I've felt in the last two days. Let me see if I can sum up what has happened in the last 48ish hours. On Wednesday morning the doctors threw the information at us that Ramona has a really fast growing Sarcoma. They didn't know exactly what kind of Sarcoma it is but since it is growing fast they recommend that we start chemo as fast as possible. This is a bit of an act of faith since only certain types of Sarcomas respond well to chemo. The other part of this is that sarcomas aren't very common and that affects the amount of information available. We went into St. Boniface yesterday to have a PICC line put in. (so the chemo can be put straight to her heart). This mini procedure took two hours, but we were at the clinic for about 7 hours. We have nearly talked to all the dieticians, nurses, doctors and pharmacists working at St. B. It is amazing, we dealt with about 7 or 8 different professionals and they were all really amazing people. Ramona's pain has increased in the last two days and is therefore on more morphine and other drugs. It is kinda frightening how fast this cancer seems to be hitting her. It was only a week or two ago that she was running most of the Beaver Creek Bible Camp and in the last two days, anything other than lying, really still seems to cause alot of pain. A combination of the cancer itself and beginning the morphine has made her really tired today.
I am inspired by the peace God has given Ramona. When we came to camp last night it was incredibly encouraging to hear that some of the campers had the idea to fast and pray for us. They had seen some of the counsellors fasting earlier. I should let Ramona tell the story later on when she feels up to being at the computer, but it blew us away. Ramona pulled those campers into our room to chat and pray with them and they were incredibly sincere. One of the campers was in my cabin two years ago and became a Christian. Now he is fasting and praying for Ramona. God must be doing alot of smiling.
Keep seeking God,
Earl

Hey guys,

I'm sorry I didn't get to see you much on Thursday while I was up, but I just wanted to let you know how inspiring you two are. It totally blows me away that in the midst of all this you're still dedicating yourselves to camp the way you have. I've been praying for you and I will continue to do so. Though I won't be able to attend church myself this Sunday I'm going to speak to the Pastor and get my whole church praying for you.

I meant to tell you this Ramona while I was at camp, but I forgot 1st week and didn't see you this week. I was totally blown away when, after you got the news that you might have cancer, you still got up with the Worship team the night you got back to play piano with a smile on your face. I can only hope that I could be half as brave as you've bee in this situation.

Best of luck to both of you. My love and prayers are definitely with you. If I can help in any way at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jay
(And can I just add that I hate how this thing puts names in with no capitalization? The youth of today are going to develop such poor English skills :))

Hey Earl and Mony, man you both are seriously an encouragement to me. I know that I can't fully grasp what you are going through, but I'm praying for you guys. God is changing lives through you, he's drawing others to Himself, and taking believers deeper. I really do believe that. Keep hoping and believing. We do serve a God of Hope. He's God regardless of what we face. There are a couple verses I want to encourage you both with. Proverbs 3:5-6 "trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he WILL make your paths straight." Keep being real, be honest with God about how you feel, and then keep chosing to trust him. If there are questions, ask God and seek out answers. Max Lucado said that one of the biggest things the enemy does is try to steal our questions leaving us in a state of complacency." That definitely stuck out to me.

We've definitely been praying for you out here. Even though things seem bad, remember this, when the Israelites were led out of egypt, God didn't open the sea so they could just go through, He waited until they were completely out of their ability to do anything, trapped between the red sea and the egyptians, that's when he showed His power and parted the sea. God's using you to bring glory to his name! I can't even imagine how many lives he's changing through you. Keep Going!!

Hey guys,

I forgot to add (and as I don't have your phone number or e-mail I'll have to mention this here) that if you want some company at the hospital at all feel free to give me a shout. I'd rather not post my phone number up on-line but my e-mail is hatman@mts.net (I'd be more than happy to e-mail it to you privately)

Ramona & Earl, it's so hard for me to be so far away from you right now. Neil's mom had serious health issues out here in Mexico and we rushed here to be with her. It looked as if we might not make it here in time to see her yet. Although she's gone thru lots during the last weeks....she's coming home from the hospital today!! (We just saw how God's in control, even when we think someone can't possibly make it out of their serious health problems.)

Whenever I have a chance to get to someone's computer out here (which hasn't been much) I've been checking out the blog. I've been so amazed and encouraged by the incredible strength you guys have. You are a true inspiration to me.
This is getting long already, but when we get back I have to tell you about my "Miracles Message" I shared at church just a few weeks ago. I can't wait to hear about how God provided healing miracles for you soon!
Our prayers are with you. See you when we get back out there. John & Carol and kids, hang in there, you have one tough girl there! And she has a strong partner to lean on. With Love from auntie Linda

Hi guys, I just thought that I'd go back a bit in time tonight...when I read this post I am reminded of God's peace and the peace that He has given you. It's been almost three years since this post was written and the peace of God has not moved or changed. You are a survivor Ramona! God is receiving all the glory! As you finish your time in Redding Cal. may your faith be strengthened 100x's!! You have witnessed yourself the miracles happening there to others and to your own body! You are chosen for this time! My prayers are with you two. xoxoxo
